Despite the high incidence of hernia and the attention paid to hernia surgery globally, pain, bleeding other complications are still often observed as a result of improper surgery. In this module, open repair of a 2x5 cm para-umbilical hernia is demonstrated with narrated guidance from Dr. Sujith Wijerathne and is suited for undergraduates.
Learn proper opening of the abdominal layers and peritoneum with safe and effective placement of a ventral mesh. Familiarise with the core steps and anatomy to become more effective, whether as an assistant or as lead surgeon.
